The American Conservative Union Foundation’s Nolan Center for Justice released the following statement in response to the Presidential Executive Order on Policing:

“The tragedies we have seen in places like Minneapolis, Louisville, and Atlanta are products of system failure in recruiting, training and oversight. These are inherently local issues that must addressed at the local level. But the EO will provide new federal resources for law enforcement leaders to drive change.

It isn’t the all-encompassing, federalization of local police departments that Mr. Nadler and Ms. Harris have proposed. Rather, it’s a measured effort to incentivize transparency and accountability. Clearly, legislation will required to make other policy changes. But the Executive Order is a meaningful first step.”
