Folks on both sides of the aisle agree – we need meaningful criminal justice reform. But getting Republicans and Democrats to work together on this issue is a great feat, and it’s exactly what put Holly Harris on our list of trailblazing women in criminal justice reform.
Holly Harris is the Executive Director of the Justice Action Network. For the last two years, she has led campaigns to pass sweeping criminal justice reform in a dozen states and at the national level.
Holly helped change the narrative around harsh sentencing for nonviolent offenders, showing that being “tough on crime” doesn’t always improve public safety.
She reminded legislators that they’d have to work together to fix our broken criminal justice system, pressing then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to allow a vote on the FIRST STEP Act. It passed with overwhelming bipartisan support and was signed into law by President Trump late last year.
Holly is a trailblazing patriot for criminal justice reform, and we are excited to highlight all of her hard work.
