The FIRST STEP Act helps to prepare inmates for their release, making them better neighbors and keeping our communities safe.
President Trump and his allies in Congress developed a proposal to fix our failing prison system. Known as the FIRST STEP Act, the legislation was approved in the House of Representatives by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 360-59.
However the Senate has failed to act on it.
